9/21/09 - The #1-seed Wildcats expected a tough series against the #2-seed Redhawks in the East/West Championship Series this past weekend, and that is exactly what they got.  On Saturday, Game One went to the Redhawks.  The 'Hawks jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead by putting up a 4-spot in the 2nd inning, but the Wildcats responded with 3 in the 2nd, 1 in the 3rd, and 2 in the 4th to take a 6-4 lead.  The Wildcats extended their lead to 7-4 with a run in the 7th inning, but the Redhawks responded with 1 run in the 8th and 3 in the 9th to steal the victory, 8-7.  In Game Two, the Wildcats jumped out to a 9-0 lead before letting the Redhawks back in the game again.  After the Redhawks put up a huge 5-spot in the 8th inning, the 'Cats found themselves up by only 1 run, 12-11, heading into the 9th inning.  They tacked on an important insurance run in the top half of the frame to go up 13-11 and held the Redhawks scoreless in the bottom half of the inning to even the series at 1-1.  On a rainy Sunday, Game Three began on time at 4:00 PM, but a brief rain delay held up action in the 5th inning.  The game was resumed, but heavier rain hit in the top of the 7th inning and the game was postponed until Saturday, September 26 at 4:00 PM.  Play will be resumed with the Wildcats leading 10-3 in the top of the 7th, with Redhawks runners on 2nd and 3rd base and 1 out.  The winner of this postponed Game Three will move on to face the Scorpions in the American League Championship Series immediately afterwards!

9/14/09 - The #1-seed Wildcats swept the #4-seed Nationals, two games to none, in their first-round playoff matchup this past weekend in the Division Series.  The Cats exploded offensively in the first game on Saturday afternoon, winning 26-2 behind home runs from Tyler Fletcher (9), Dave Foust (3), and Pete Sekalias (1).  Terry Rajcan (6-3 regular season, 1-0 postseason) pitched a complete game to earn the W.  In Game Two on Sunday, Ryan Kelley (5-0 regular season, 1-0 postseason) earned the W as the Cats finished off the Nationals with a 13-7 victory.  The Wildcats will take on the #2-seed Redhawks this upcoming weekend in the East/West Championship Series.  Saturday's games will be played at Rec Park in Arlington Heights at 4:00 & 7:30 PM.  If necessary, a Game Three will be played on Sunday at Grosche Field in Waukegan at 7:30 PM.  Come out to cheer on the Wildcats -- with two more wins, we will be in the American League Championship Series!

9/9/09 - The Wildcats finished the 2009 regular season with a 17-4-1 record after last weekend's doubleheader sweep of the Dragons, securing the #1 seed in the American League East/West playoffs.  The Wildcats will play the #4 seed Nationals this upcoming weekend in the Quarterfinal round of the playoffs, a best-of-three series.  In their three regular season matchups, the Wildcats won 15-5 and 15-13 on May 31st and won 14-11 on July 12th.  Please come out to Wing Park in Elgin on Saturday and Sunday to support us in the playoffs!
